Finchley Road to Baker Street
I leave Finchley Road underground station and walk south past the shops on Finchley Road. Outside a McDonald’s I spot this dog waiting for its owner.
There are many nice blocks of flats on the way to Regent’s Park.
Walking along Park Road I pass the large dome of the Regent’s Park Mosque. After walking a short way along Baker Street I arrive at the station.
Baker Street to Great Portland Street
Walking along Marylebone Road I pass the old London Planetarium dome – which is no longer in use as a planetarium. It is used for celebrity shows as part of Madame Tussauds instead.
I pass Harley Street which is famous for its private doctors, and then arrive at Great Portland Street tube station.
Great Portland Street to Euston Square
There are new offices being built on Euston Road.
At the corner of Gower Street I reach Euston Square tube station.
Euston Square to King’s Cross St. Pancras
I walk north east on Euston Road passing the British Library.
Here is the entrance to King’s Cross St. Pancras tube station.
King’s Cross St. Pancras to Farringdon
On Farringdon Road I pass a Post Office depot and just beyond this is Exmouth Market, mostly selling hot food.
I walk down Turnmill Street and then arrive at Farringdon underground station.
Farringdon to Barbican
To get to Barbican station I head through Cowcross Street and Charterhouse Street.
Just around the corner from the end of Charterhouse Street is Barbican tube station.
Barbican to Moorgate
I walk through the Barbican estate. The Barbican proves that is is possible to produce a highly populated concrete estate which is pleasant to walk around.
On the other side of the Barbican is the entrance to Moorgate tube station.
Moorgate to Liverpool Street
I walk east through Finsbury Circus which is popular with the local city workers.
After passing some office blocks near the station I reach Liverpool Street.
Liverpool Street to Aldgate
I walk down Bishopsgate passing the construction site for the Heron Tower. When it is finished it will be taller than Tower 42.
I walk south east along Beavis Marks and Duke’s Place, getting a good view of The Gherkin before arriving at Aldgate, my last stop on my Metropolitan line tube walk.
