Canada Water to Surrey Quays

11th December 2007

On leaving Canada Water station the most obvious landmark is Canada Water itself, a quiet lake and wildlife refuge. On one side of the lake is the large Decathlon sports shop where I stopped off to get a combined compass and whistle which will be useful for my travels later on.

Further up the lake is the Surrey Quays shopping centre which has shops from all the big high street chains.

The shelter below is where in the past dockers used to come to get a days work. There was no guarantee that they would get a job on any given day. If they did get picked then the work mostly involved loading and unloading the ships that used these docks. The images painted on the shelter depict the kind of work that these dockers would do.

At the Southern end of the Surrey Quays shopping centre I reach the Surrey Quays tube station.
