Central Line Walk - Day 5
Oxford Circus to Bond Street

The area between Oxford Circus and Bond Street is home to some of the large department stores such as John Lewis and House of Fraser.

Many large chains make this their home. In the West One shopping centre is the entrance to Bond Street tube station.

Bond Street to Marble Arch

Further along Oxford Street is Selfridges, which at the moment is covered in some scaffolding.

After Selfridges is Marble Arch tube station.

Marble Arch to Lancaster Gate

The Marble Arch - designed by John Nash - is close to Speaker’s corner by Hyde Park. The Arch was originally positioned in front of Buckingham Palace and moved here in 1851.

I pass Edgware Road and then walk west along Bayswater Road.


After passing a cottage in Hyde Park I reach Lancaster Gate underground station.

Lancaster Gate to Queensway

After Lancaster Gate I head into Hyde Park and follow a footpath close to Bayswater Road.

I spot many over sized pencils in front of the Lancaster Hotel. Beyond the hotel is Queensway tube station.
