Farringdon to Bayswater Tube Walk

Farringdon to King’s Cross St. Pancras

On Farringdon Road are various offices and shops.

I spot a cattle trough that has been converted into a flower bed.

I doubt that many Royals have been here.

After getting to the end of King’s Cross Road I reach King’s Cross St. Pancras underground station.

King’s Cross St. Pancras to Euston Square

On Euston Road is the British Library and the UNISON headquarters.

Outside Euston mainline station are a number of war memorials.

Soon after the Euston mainline station is one of the Euston Square underground station entrances.

Euston Square to Great Portland Street

Further along Euston Road is an area of modern office buildings.

Near Regent’s Park is Great Portland Street tube station.

Great Portland Street to Baker Street

Along the way to Baker Street is Regent’s Park Crescent and this tribute to Charles Dickens featuring some of the famous characters from his books.

After Madame Tussaud’s is Baker Street station.

Baker Street to Edgware Road

To get to Edgware Road station I continue along Marylebone Road.

I turn into Chapel Street and then arrive at the station. The Circle line Edgware Road station isn’t actually on Edgware Road – but the Bakerloo line Edgware Road station is. Perhaps TFL should rename this station to make it less confusing.

Edgware Road to Paddington

Along Praed Street you can see modern flats and traditional brick houses.

Just before getting to Paddington station I pass St. Mary’s Hospital.

Paddington to Bayswater

On the way to Bayswater are colourful houses as well as the stucco fronted houses that are common in Lancaster Gate.

I spot this NYPD car which seems to have got lost and ended up in the wrong continent.

I turn onto the Queensway and pass the Whiteleys shopping centre before reaching Bayswater underground station. This is the end point of my Circle line walk and as it happens it was also the start point.

Circle Line Walk – Day 3 Summary

This third day of Circle line walking took about about two hours.

  1. I was expecting to do read about the fake houses too!
I’m planning to run this route at some point one early Sunday morning as I live right by St James’s Park: do you know its exact length – I heard someone say it was 17 miles once. Don’t fancy going over the hill from Notting Hill Gate to High St. Ken either. Any tips?

Btw, thanks for writing all of this up: I’ve really enjoyed reading it! Anything else to come?
